After the recent news about how easy it was to hack Social Security numbers here in the US, is it time for a new system? Possibly a system could be created as a part of a new national identity card that has been talked about on the hill many times.

I am one of those people that doesn't get to blog all the time on their primary blog... :) I have a few other blogs and it seems that this one gets neglected from time to time. That always leaves my blog with the "Sorry there are no blog entries" message on my homepage.

I got tired of seeing that today and found this older article about removing the lastXDays feature on BlogCFC.

If you are a regular LinkedIn user you will have noticed that you can add "Applications" to your LinkedIn profiles. One of those applications that you can add is a nice app from Amazon that lets you add and share books that you like. While this is a great app and is great for sharing information, I don't think most people know that LinkedIn is making money off your book reviews.

Everytime someone clicks on a link that you have for a book in your profile and goes to Amazon, LinkedIn gets a cut of the money from your review. What LinkedIn has is an Amazon Associates account and they use the tracking id "LinkedIn-20" on all links that go over to Amazon. When someone purchases a book or in some cases something else on Amazon after they were referred over there, they get a cut of the sale.

I have problems with this because it is using people's reviews of books to unwittingly generate money for LinkedIn. I would like to see LinkedIn add the ability to add your own Amazon Associates ID into the application and give users a chance to make money off their own reviews.

Social sites are supposed to be just that social. It doesn't matter if you are LinkedIn, Facebook, or MySpace. It seems though that LinkedIn doesn't want you to be too social though.

It all started last year when LinkedIn decided to publish a group directory. Those who had taken the time to create a number of groups had to delete them in order to come down to the new limits of owning only 50 groups. There is also a hidden limit that many users aren't aware of. There is a limit on how many members a group has as well.

What I don't understand is why LinkedIn tries to limit not only how many groups you can be a part of, but the size of the groups too. There is no rhyme or reason to it either.

Some groups have literally thousands of members while others that LinkedIn doesn't like are limited to 1000 members. It seems to me that it shouldn't be up to LinkedIn to limit any membership to a particular group. The idea of a social networking site is to network. Limiting members of a group is contrary to that very notion.

There should be no limits on group ownership or on how many members a group can have. Let the network grow, instead of constraining it for no reason.

Which is better? I use FDT all the time now with the Flex 3 SDK to compile AS files. The main benefit that I see to Flex Builder is that you can create AIR and Flex projects in addition to your ActionScript projects...

So what is your opinion... Flex Builder of FDT3? I would do both, but currently can't afford both... :)

I am interested to know if they will have some new site for Adobe Developers to connect on or if this just signals the end of a failed Beta experiment...

The concept of having a site specifically for Adobe developers is appealing, but I wonder if that need is already being met by sites like LinkedIn. There are groups on there for Flash, Flex, Photoshop, etc...

Last night was historic, I will give you that.

Unfortunately though I couldn't see myself supporting Obama and his policies of wanting to expand the federal government and its control in Washington, D.C. The Constitution and the founders of this country never wanted a huge federal government as can be seen by their writings and even by the Constitution itself.

The Constitution of the United States plainly states:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."

That is often overlooked, but it does mean that the power of the government should rely in the states and not with the federal government. If a state lets say decided to make a law lets say that made gay marriage illegal or even legal, that is their decision to make, not the federal government to force on every state. Voters of that individual state according to the Constitution should be able to make that decision on their own.

I think as a nation we have gotten way too far away from the founding principles of the Constitution. Unfortunately the candidate that I supported, Ron Paul, wasn't able to make it through to the election. Ron Paul is all about restoring what the constitution set forth... freedom from a bunch of old men sitting in Washington, D.C.

Wallop was a social network initiative that was originally started by Microsoft to rival Facebook and Myspace. It was revolutionary from the perspective that it was primarily all in Flash.

Today I went to the main Wallop website:

And found a site that is marketing applications for other social networks. After seeing this I decided to check out the Wallop members site:

And it redirects to the same page.

I then found a techcrunch article:

So it is true, it is dead.

Remember when large format HDTV sets cost almost $4,000? I was just over on Amazon and it looks like they have the 61" LED DLP television for less than $1400. All I can say is wow. I have an old school first gen DLP set and paid a small fortune for it. I saw this set in Best Buy and was amazed. This is the best Christmas gift you could give this year.

With this new LED set the problem with expensive bulbs is solved. Also solved would be the spinning noise that you can hear coming from the color wheel because this set doesn't use a color wheel anymore.
