is the iPhone the biggest waste of money?Ok, I admit the iPhone is a cool piece of technology, but for the price it isn't worth it. Seriously, $500 for a 4gb cell phone and $600 for an 8gb version? When they started talking about this I was sure that they would try to bring about an evolution by making the price on this close to $100. They would have cornered the market at $100 for something like this. As it is for the price and the memory you get, it is far from a good value. I might consider paying $500 for it if it was built on the video iPod platform with a 60 or 80gb hd, but never for a 4gb flash drive. Get real Apple and make products affordable for everyone, $500 for a phone isn't realistic. |
...which brings up the interesting point; can you buy an unlocked iPhone?
Plus look at the price of the latest treo, the latest crackberry, the latest Q and blackjack.
Yeah it's more than a razor, but it's MORE than a Razer :)
In that light it's only slightly more spendy than the competition, which is par for the course for Apple tech.
This means that there are a TON of smart phones out there that are much cheaper than the iPhone. I think that Apple could have done better on the price.

There were and are cheaper DAPs than the iPod, cheaper laptops than the MacBook Pro, cheaper towers than the Mac Pro, and cheaper servers than the Xserve...
A friend pointed out, the hardware costs more in general because the software, not only rocks, but is usually less expensive.
Plus with the exception of the Pearl, most of those models are a year or more old.
I do agree it could be cheaper, always. It's Apple, they're never the loss leader LOL
a conversation on a cell phone? Absurd is too kind a word for it. Now it has all the other crap you
don't need too. I would cancel my phone in my home if I would not lose my dial up Internet
connection. Then again, I think I will call my phone company and see if I can cancel my phone. It
is useless to me anyway.
