That is right friends, the last book in the Harry Potter series, book 7, is up for preorder over at Amazon. What I want to know is when the audio book will be up for preorder?
According to the author a main character dies in this book. Who do you think it will be? Do you even think Dumbledore is dead or was it a hoax? I guess we will all find out on July 21st.
I am too searching for the audiobook pre-order. At least for UK version we know that the audiobook will be released at the same time as the printed book but for USA release even that is not confirmed. On your question, my opinion: -Certainly dead at the end of book 7: Voldemort (evil loses) and Harry (defeating great evil requires great sacrifice). -Likely major characters to die within: Ginny or Ron (JKR herself mentioned that the ending of book two is highly symbolic for the end of the series; both came very close to the end there). But, it would be unnecceseraly hurting if both die, so it's either but not both in my opinion. -Other characters highly likely (but less than Ron and Ginny) to perish: Percy, Twins, McGonagall, Victor Crum, (all due to the likely message/heroism). -Characters highly unlikely to die in my opinion (due to the inclusive positive message of all HP books); Hermione, Lupin, Hagrid, Drako, Luna, Tonks, Trelawny, Flitwick, Snape -Dumbledore is really dead (JKR wouldn't step down to such cheap tricks as making it a fake and same as for Harry - great sacrifice needed to win over evil reasoning).
Another problem with us Yanks pre-ordering the UK version is missing out on the marvelous Jim Dale and his many character voices. I've never heard the UK versions and applaud Jeff if he's listened to both and judges the UK version to be superior, but Jim imbues each of the characters with such distinct voices you can listen to any CD at random & know exactly who's speaking. He's a marvel.
The UK version does the same thing, but I think the voices are far better than Jim Dale's. Stephen Fry does a much better job with the different voices. You should try to compare them sometime. Go to your library and see if you can check out the UK version... It is worth a listen.
Wow, that is a very childish answer. Have you ever even listened to the audiobooks? There is really something to be said to the amount of effort that is put into them. The reader creates different voices and creates different moods with the voices. If you don't understand why we listen to the audiobooks and all you can say is "learn to read" then you are missing a lot. And yes, I read the books as well.
I, too, love the Harry Potter audio books read by Stephen Fry, and am trying to find out if I can order the audio book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows read by him in the US! If anyone has found a way to buy the Fry version of HP7 on July 21, post it here!!!

It is the UK version of it, but I think that version is better anyway.
