Music For Your Work Week... My Chemical RomanceMy Chemical Romance is the band that I have selected for this round of Music for Your Work week. This is a band that released their debut album in 2002 on an New York indie label. Their most recent album, "The Black Parade", is a unique experience that can only be compared to Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, and Queen. The album is a varying mix of punk, ballads, and some harder classic rock styles. One track in particular named "Teenagers" seems to get a lot of influence from Pink Floyd's "The Wall," and Pink's struggle through life and inability to conform. The song reminds me of a lot of classic southern rock songs with the heavy guitar rifts. At the bottom of this post you will find some of the music videos from MCR that I found on YouTube. There are songs on this album that start out as an acoustic and then move into a full rock song. The sound of MCR is hard to pin down to any one genre and there is a lot on this album that will appeal to a broad range of listeners. Give a try.
