REVIEW: My Verizon XV6700...
I have been using my new phone now for a couple of weeks and I thought I would give my user experience with this cool phone. Let me first say that I have never owned a PDA phone before and because of this I didn't go in expecting certain features. The first thing that really stuck out with me about this phone was the keyboard. The keyboard is very nice and easy to use. It makes typing emails and text messages a breeze. When the keyboard is slid out it makes viewing websites easy because of the wide format. My phone has the unlimited web package from Verizon and let me tell you this is a must for this phone. I have used the internet on this phone almost non-stop since I got it. You can also use the browser in wifi mode. I have done this many times when I can find an open hotspot. I have a roughly 3 hour commute everyday on the train into New York City and my phone is a lifesaver. From checking emails to reading the news, it is the best handheld device I own. I downloaded and installed the .NET Compact Framework for my phone so I could run some additional applications. I also downloaded and installed Flash Lite 2.1, Google Maps, Windows Live Local, Bluechatting (bluetooth messenger), an FTP app, and various other apps. There are a lot of registry hacks out there for this phone and I as of yet haven't explored any of them, although I did download a registry editor that runs on the phone. I would recommend a couple of things. First you should run out and get a 2gb miniSD card so you can store music and applications. The internal memory will not last long if you use this phone a lot. The second thing I would recommend is that you should go out and get the extended battery. The battery life on the standard battery leaves a lot to be desired. I can only go 8-9 hours before I have to charge my phone again, but remember this is with a ton of internet and wifi useage. Overall I am very impressed with this phone. It is a great device and I don't know what I have done without it. Some Recommended Accessories: |
you can add Flash Lite 2.1 and run Flash Lite content. You can download the player from Adobe.

I never went back to a normal phone again. Since then, PDA phone is the way to go for me. There's just so much more you can do with it; it transformed the way I saw the phone.
The Verizon looks a little dated with that aerial. I think HTC are definitely getting this market and getting their products right.
