The Failure to Launch: Yahoo! Go

I own a Verizon XV6700 and I have been waiting rather patently for the new Yahoo! Go service that Yahoo has been touting as a mobile phone revolution:

"A revolutionary design

Yahoo! Go is the first application optimized for the "small screen" of a mobile phone that truly makes it easy and fun to access the Internet. Everything about the Yahoo! Go interface is designed to be both visually stunning and give you what you want with the fewest clicks possible."

The funny thing is that they have been promising for months to release their Go! application for the XV6700. Before April they were promising its release by April. Now that April has come and gone they are still saying "Coming Soon". What has happened? Did the steam die out on the whole Go! application?

These delays to me just means that I should give up waiting for something that apparently will never come.

Ben Farr's Gravatar I like the concept of Yahoo Go, we have developed a similar style solution but concentrating on SMS and Internet services. It's available on all MIDP2.0 devices which is the best thing. Feel free to try it out www.myiota.co.uk, you can download for free through the web url.

Cheers

Ben

Randall's Gravatar I don't know what you're smoking, but I've been using this app since December, and love it. It syncs my yahoo contacts, calendar and email to the contacts section, calendar section, and email section of my verizon 6700.

I works EXACTLY like active sync with an exchange server.

If you want it, just email me and I'll send it to you.

jeff's Gravatar I don't know what app you are using but it isn't that one unless you got it from someone at Yahoo or it is a beta version. Everytime I go to the download screen for GO it says that it is still coming soon for the Verizon 6700.

Paul's Gravatar Randall, please email the Yahoo!Go app.

I had downloaded the 1.5 version which works great. Unfortunately my 8525 had a ROM update which wiped out added software. Thanks!
