Cool Africa Photography...

Over at Barrettimages.net they have some very interesting and cool photography. They have a lot more than just Africa photography on their site, they have photography from a few different areas in the world. A few of the sections don't have photographs in them, but from the sections that do have photographs you can tell what an accomplished photographer they are. Enjoy!!

Getting the most bang for your buck in a Digital SLR...

I have had my Canon Rebel Digital SLR for about a year now and I enjoy taking pictures with it everyday. The only thing I am not too happy with is that it is only 8 megapixels and it isn't a full-frame sensor. Most full-frame sensor DSLR cameras are so expensive they are out of the reach of amateur photographers.

Back a year or so ago Kodak stopped producing their flagship DSLR camera the 14n. The Kodak 14n is a 14 megapixel DSLR that accepts all Nikon F mount lenses. If you know cameras, the only camera that comes close in as far as megapixels is the $5,000 NIKON D2Xs 12.4 Megapixel DSLR.

That all being said you can't exactly go out to the store and buy a new Kodak 14n. Your best bet is eBay and my last check had about 9 of them for around $1000. For $1,000 even a used 14n is worth the money.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 Beta

Adobe released the beta version of Photoshop CS3. This is great news for all and I hope to see some of the functionality they were showing off at Adobe MAX in Vegas.

"Packed with new features, Photoshop CS3 beta also includes a pre-release version of a major upgrade to Adobe Bridge, as well as a preview release of the all-new Adobe Device Central. Photoshop customers can use Adobe Device Central to design, preview, and test compelling mobile content, created specifically for smaller screens. This new tool, integrated in the Photoshop CS3 beta, simplifies and accelerates the creation of mobile content through a preview environment and built-in device profiles."

Find out what camera they used to take that photo on Flickr...

Almost everyone knows about Flickr and how you can share pictures of just about anything. But what most Flickr users don't know is that you can find out what type of camera was used to take that picture that you just uploaded of your house and kids.

Most techincal people know about EXIF data that is embedded in JPG files. This data saves the camera settings, type of camera, shutter speed, focal length, etc. It seems that Flicr has a nice app that lets you view this data online.

It should be a very usefull tool when it comes to evaluating that new digital SLR that you are buying for someone this christmas. If you are looking at any picture on Flickr, simply scroll down to the bottom of the right coloumn under "Additional Information". There you should see the type of camera and link to "More properties".

http://www.flickr.com/photo_exif.gne?id=53960905&context=photostream

See photos by a specific camera by using the Camera finder on Flickr:
