				<title>VoIP Article in NYT</title>
				<link>http://thewarp.org/blog/index.cfm/2005/5/5/VoIP-Article-in-NYT</link>
				<description>

				The New York Times Technology section has an article about new Internet Phones that need no computer. To be correct most VoIP phones don&apos;t need a computer, they need a router that will allow them to plug their regular phone into it.

In reality you could put the VoIP router at the point where your phone connection comes into your house. Then you will have VoIp service and have no worries about where you will plug your phone into. You could just use the standard wall jacks in your house.

These new phones that the article talks about are nothing entirely new. The only thing that is new are the VoIP Wi-Fi phones, but you will still need a Wi-Fi router. The only benifit of having a Wi-Fi phone will be portability. In theory you could get onto any Wi-Fi network and make a call, that is if you can find one that is not secured. From the article they say that logging into a secured network with the keypad can be tricky.

I am going to just keep using my Vonage service as it is right now. I like having a router that my phones plug into.

I already have wireless VoIP in my house. I just plugged my cordless phone into the router... :)
